June on the farm is one of those months where there’s always a job waiting to be done. While the cows are happily out grazing and the routine feels a little different from the busy spring season, there’s still plenty happening behind the scenes.
This is the time of year for tackling the big clean-up jobs that are easy to put off during the busier months. Sheds are being cleaned out, old bedding cleared away, gates repaired, corners tidied, and the power washer gets plenty of use! There’s something so satisfying about giving the yard a proper freshen-up after a long, messy winter.
June is also about maintenance—checking equipment, keeping on top of repairs, and making sure everything is in good order before the next busy season rolls around. Farming has a funny way of never really slowing down; the jobs just change with the seasons.
Of course, there’s always the race to make the most of dry weather too, whether that’s field work, silage prep, or catching up on the endless outdoor jobs that seem to appear overnight.
